Before
the advent of computers, a designer had to conceptualize the way a 2D or 3D
object would look from different angles before putting it down on paper in the
form of designs. The designs had to be perfect in all respects because the 2D
or 3D item would be produced depending on the design. Any mistake in the design
and the dimensions given in the design could produce a completely different
thing from what it was envisaged. A designer had to keep so many things in mind
that making a mistake was commonplace, and the design had to be modified a
number of times before it was perfect.
Help from computers
Computer
Aided Design or CAD has increased the productivity of designers. The product
called ArchiCAD is one such example
of a computer program that can come up with designs very fast. The design
workflow requires various types of processes to be completed before it can be
integrated into one design. The uneven use of computer resources by the
different processes is optimized by this design software. It speeds up the
whole process for getting a final result as fast as possible.
